Sojourner's Blog

During the 1960s I was a civil rights worker with CORE and SCLC in Alabama, Mississippi, and California (see Bruce Hartford for details). Today, I am an active member of Bay Area Veterans of the Civil Rights Movement and am webspinner of the Civil Rights Movement Veterans historical website which documents the Southern Freedom Movement

In the later ’60s I was a student activist and SDS member at San Francisco State College, then a freelance journalist in Asia covering matters related to the Vietnam War and editing the Semper Fi, an underground anti-war newspaper written by U.S. Marines in the war zone. From 1980 to 2001, I  was a founding member and long-time national officer of the National Writers Union (NWU) an affiliate of the UAW. I continue to be active in social movements for justice and equality, and I speak and write about the tactics and strategies of nonviolent resistance.

By profession I am a technical writer in Silicon Valley and am also the author of the science fiction novel “The Gandhi Ring.”
